Probiotic Action best known for their adult acne treatment releases news from a recent study done by the Journal of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics which has determined a connection between diet and acne, particularly from high glycemic load diets and dairy product primarily sold in first world countries. Probiotic Action shares insight on why processed foods may contribute to acne and offers advice on treatments.
While the connection between food and acne is still on the table, the Journal of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics recently released information that suggests eating processed foods heighten the glycemic level, and may contribute to acne flare ups.
The article found on Elesiver.com states that while researchers who contributed to the study concluded that, “a high glycemic index/glycemic load diet and frequent dairy consumption are the leading factors in establishing the link between diet and acne. They also note that although research results from studies conducted over the last 10 years do not demonstrate that diet causes acne, it may influence or aggravate it.”
Fernando Perez, a spokesman for Probiotic Action, widely known for their acne cream suggests that while no food has been directly linked to acne, the contribution of P.acnes bacteria and heightened hormone and insulin levels could create an imbalance of chemicals, resulting in a breeding ground for bad bacteria. Perez further suggests that limiting the intake of foods claiming to cause acne that contain high levels of processed items, and using a treatment that battles bad bacteria and balances the skin may be the best acne treatment.
“The first world is fortunate enough to have access to many readily made foods- often these “fast foods” have preservatives and other sugars that create an imbalance in the body. When the body PH balance is off, we are more prone to disease and infection. This may be why new research is claiming acne is a first world problem,” says Perez.
